Kate Wyatt
Children and Young People's Officer, Forest of Dean District Council
Kate Wyatt's energy and enthusiasm has ensured the positive contribution young people make in the Forest of Dean doesn't go unnoticed.
Fed up with the bad press young people get Kate established the annual Forest Youth Awards in 2007 recognising the great work they do in the community to help others.
Kate has coordinated district links with the Forest Youth Forum giving young people a voice and acting on what they say. They recently had a speed-networking event between young people and councillors. This was a massive success and Kate is now building on this with 'I'm a councillor get me out of here' to elect a Youth Engagement Member Champion.
The former nurse has proven she's young at heart by getting involved in the Play Rangers project using the forest as a base for activities for children aged eight to 16 ranging from den building to crafts and games.
