Barry Snowdon - WINNER!
Street Cleansing Operative, Mansfield District Council
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's Superhero Street Sweeper, Barry Snowdon! Last Summer Barry was hailed a hero after averting a major disaster while out on his rounds in Warsop. He rushed to the rescue after seeing a highways truck on fire. The vehicle, which was carrying highly flammable gas bottles, was parked just yards from a Petrol Station. With seconds to spare, Barry grabbed an extinguisher from the garage forecourt and put out the fire single-handedly, sustaining burns in the process. This isn't the first time Barry's super powers have been put to the test. In March 2007, again whilst out sweeping, he chased and caught a handbag thief, holding the robber down until Police arrived. Despite his heroics, Barry's remains modest, saying: "I'm not a super hero, just a road sweeper who takes pride in keeping Warsop clean for the residents."
